Caribbean Day
To celebrate what would have been Bob Marley's 80th birthday, the children spent a whole day learning about the Caribbean. Lessons focussed on the geography, art and music of the Caribbean, as well as learning about Bob Marley's life. Older children also learnt about the Windrush generation and thought about what it must have been like to move to a new country.
During the morning, DJ Ellen Trim introduced children to a range of Reggae and Ska music. The children even learnt some Ska dance moves and enjoyed moving in time to the music. Ellen also told the children about her family links with St. Lucia and spoke about her grandfather and grandmother moving to England in the 1950s.
We finished off the day by taking part in a worldwide Young Voices Assembly, singing a medley of Bob Marley songs. What a lovely way to end our Caribbean Day!
